What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kinship Family Finder position at KVC Health Systems?
Position Summary:
The Family Finder position is responsible for locating and engaging relatives and connections for youth in foster care. A Family Finder’s goal is to find a relative or NRKIN placement for that youth, but if placement cannot be identified, Family Finders strive to build a community of connections for that youth.
Location:
Olathe Kansas
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Licensure/Certification:
Current Driver’s License and Auto Insurance required. At least 21 years old.
Preferred Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in the social services field and previous experience with children and family services preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and maintain a safe, secure, stable, family-centered, and community-connected child welfare system in Kansas, relying on evidence-based practices to support contract services.
- Achieve kinship department goals and objectives.
- Train KVC staff and partners in Family Finding and the importance of kin connections.
- Maintain communication with DCF, courts, and community partners.
- Interview children, parents, caregivers, and family members to gather information on family connections.
- Attend court hearings to build relative/kin networks.
- Search for relatives using various resources.
- Facilitate family meetings to develop lifetime networks and action plans for children's unmet needs.
- Use Family Finding tactics to identify and strengthen children's networks.
- Complete required paperwork and follow agency policies and procedures within specific timeframes.
