What are the responsibilities and job description for the NE Family Coach position at KVC Health Systems?
Position Summary:
- Family coaches (FC) play a vital role working with youth (ages 7-18) and their caregivers toward academic success and increased family cohesion. Through implementation of program components (Check & Connect, Strengthening Families Program), program participants will experience improved communication, prevention of school drop-out or failure, improved homework completion, and school success. The FC will also serve as an advocate and guide for program participants, a liaison between the home and school, and a resource for educators and school professionals as an expert in working with students and families at-risk from school involvement.
- The FES program is a collaboration between KVC Nebraska, Oregon Research Institute, and University of Nebraska Medical Center to research how to improve educational outcomes for youth who are exiting foster care. The FC will actively participate in the implementation of a randomized control trial. (RCT)
Schedule:
- Hybrid; at least 2 days a week
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, education, human services, or related field is preferred
Experience:
- Two or more years of work experience with children, families, schools and the child welfare system preferred.
Preferred Experience/Abilities:
- Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs, and Outlook email.
- Provision, management, implementation or other exposure to Evidence-Based Practices
- Provision of services that were: home-based and/or with marginalized populations.
- Tenacious and resilient profesionals who have an internal, constant and self-imposed drive to inspire children, older youth and caregivers to meet program goals.
- Charismatic professionals who quickly form and maintain relationships with children, older youth, and caregivers of diverse backgrounds toward the development of students and their caregivers.

Certification/Licensure:
- At least 21 years old
- Valid Drivers License
- Valid Auto Insurance
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
The Family Coach (FC) will deliver program interventions (Check & Connect and Strengthening Families Program) to improve educational outcomes for students aged 7-18. Key responsibilities include:
- Completing and filing documentation (assessments, data collection, reports) accurately and on time.
- Designing and executing client recruitment strategies, enrolling referrals, and building partnerships to meet recruitment goals.
- Participating in supervision sessions, applying feedback, and adhering to evidence-based practices.
- Supporting students and families to ensure program success, impacting educational outcomes.
- Maintaining accurate program data for evaluation and improvement.
- Monitoring recruitment efforts and tracking enrollment and intervention effectiveness.
- Focusing on long-term educational improvement and youth wellbeing.
- Engaging in professional development and continuous practice improvement.
- Applying specialized knowledge of program interventions, recruitment, and evidence-based practices relevant to the FC role.
