Director Electric Distribution Operations

Position Summary

Provides visionary and strategic leadership to Deliver WOW to our customers and employees. Responsible for directing the overall electric distribution operations, construction, maintenance and emergency response activities for Power Standard. Accountable for implementation of organizational policies, attainment of organizational financial, operational and safety goals and objectives as well as anticipating and positioning the organization to meet future business needs in a changing competitive environment. Also responsible for bidding and estimating work to keep backlog filled and work closely with Distribution BD team to secure work and new customers.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provides the strategic leadership and direction for the organization to contribute to the financial and operational excellence of Power Standard. Responsible for the effective and efficient utilization of resources with emphasis on safety, customer satisfaction, reliability and compliance with regulations. Collaborate with Vice President of Project Services to ensure standard project delivery across all projects to effectively manage scope, schedule and budgets. Develops and manages annual and long-term expense and capital financial resource budgets in collaboration with the CFO.
• Provides for ongoing, effective and clear communication of the organizational vision, mission, key objectives and individual roles to employees and leaders. Responsible for engaging the workforce through seeking and responding to employee and leader input, consistently recognizing high performing employees, providing the appropriate tools and materials to perform the work assigned and ensuring the workforce understands the vision and mission of the organization and how their work contributes to the achievement of goals. Communicates with and establishes effective working relationships with external entities and internal organizations outside span of control to maximize efficiency, responsiveness and resource allocation.
• Responsible to provide the leadership for corporate strategic priorities that might come up each year.
• Responsible for building, maintaining and improving ongoing working relationships with internal and external organizations and customers as well as vendors to ensure and provide maximize efficiency, responsiveness and resource allocation in order to Deliver WOW to our customers, communities, and each other.
• Applies industry and KVP Energy Services best practices, competencies and success factors to establish performance expectations. Assesses complex competitive, technical, political and social issues and develops strategies to achieve results that consider the perspective of a wide variety of stakeholders.
• Willingness to secure licenses Nationwide as a qualified party.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with seven to nine years of related experience, to include two years of management experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline
• Electric utility experience is preferred
• 5 years of management experience within Distribution Construction contracting
• Demonstrated leadership successes.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction, operation, and maintenance fundamentals of electric underground and overhead distribution and network systems, restoration techniques, and interpretation of engineering drawings.
• Demonstrated knowledge of codes/regulations including FERC, NESC, OSHA, NEC, DOT, EEO/AA, EPA, PUC, environmental, land use, franchise & building codes.
• Proven expertise in management systems and dedication to safety is essential.

Preferred Requirements

• 5 years’ PM experience with Distribution projects and/or leadership

• POC accounting knowledge/understanding

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages employee lifecycle, ensuring the right skills and expertise at each location. Leads work assignments and fosters positive relationships.
