What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Supervisor position at KVP Energy Services?
The Safety Supervisor at kVP Energy Services has the authority to ensure our field crews are adhering to the company's safety rules, procedures, and policies. The Safety Supervisor fosters a safety work culture to keep our workplace from zero harm.
Responsibilities
- Implements and coordinates programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, and financial losses.
- Identifies and evaluates conditions that could produce accidents and financial losses.
- Ensure compliance with Company safety rules and regulations through all daily supervision of workers. Take corrective and progressive disciplinary actions to ensure employee compliance with safety policies.
- Conduct and/or assist with ongoing safety indoctrination and training for employees; and provide additional safety training for employees reassigned to new duties. This includes ensuring that personal protective equipment is either issued or available to new hires and are properly trained in its use.
- Report and, if possible, correct unsafe conditions anywhere they are observed in the workplace. Request corrective actions through higher levels of supervision if the required correction is beyond his/her authority or ability to correct.
- Perform Root Cause analysis investigations on incidents and corrective actions.
- Investigate reported accidents and “good-catches.” Complete and/or review incident reports, documenting circumstances relative to all recordable injuries.
- Compiles, analyzes, and interprets statistical data related to occupational injuries, illness, and accidents and prepares reports for information of personnel concerned.
- Ensure that all injuries are promptly treated by first aid. If the employee requires attention from a doctor (nonemergency), ensure that he or she seeks medical treatment. In emergency situations notify the local Emergency Medical Service and/or Fire Department. Inform management immediately.
- Attend the pre-construction meetings, pre-work meeting, including preparatory inspection meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings and/or other meetings.
- Assist the utilities division with mobilizing during a storm.
- Implement and enforce the accepted Health and Safety Plan.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Electrical Distribution and URD experience preferred
- 5 years of experience in a construction, energy, and/or electrical safety role.
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study or one or more of the following safety certifications.
- An Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
- Certified Safety Trained Supervisor (STS)
- Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST)
- Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST)
- Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) • OSHA 500/502 certification is a plus.
- 30-hour OSHA construction safety class or equivalent within the last 5 years.
- Training Background specific to H2S, OSHA 500, and CPR/First Aid (Preferred)
Salary : $80,000
