Organizes, plans, and coordinates special projects as identified by the Chief Operating Officer. Conceptualizes, develops, and recommends procedural guidelines for the development and implementation of projects related to the efficient operations of the agency. Coordinates, directs, and participates in a variety of special projects, including those of a highly sensitive and confidential nature.
- Participates in planning, policy, and programming activities mandated by legislation, regulations, operations, personnel, organizational structure and the Secretary. Acts upon request and on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer on Department work teams and task forces examining issues impacting agency management and statewide operations.
- Establishes procedures utilized in implementation and maintenance of programs under the Chief Operating Officer, confers with necessary stakeholders on feasibility of recommended policies; drafts, edits, and interprets policies and procedures in partnership with the Chief Operating Office Division Directors.
- Coordinates, directs and participates in a variety of special projects, many of which are of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature, as instructed by the Chief Operating Officer.
- Creates project plans and actively leads and monitors the progress of projects, keeping the Chief Operating Officer appraised of status; ensures DHS compliance within mandated requirements for projects and policies affecting agency operations.
- Conducts research, prepares issue papers and recommendations for the Chief Operating Officer’s review.
- Confers with budget staff in forecasting budgetary needs relative to staffing and program needs, requests and justifications. Confers with administrators on policy analysis and development, makes recommendations for revisions of policies and procedures relative to the office. Advises and directs staff in conceptualizing, planning, developing, and interpreting directives issued by executive leadership.
- Acts as a representative of the Chief Operating Officer on Department-wide projects and work teams to conceive, develop and implement procedures and practices to promote an improved and integrated network of services to persons served by the Department’s programs. Analyzes, monitors and advises assigned projects that impact operations. Provides advice to other project managers and consultants working on initiatives within operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years college with course work in business or public administration. Requires three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or private organization.
