KX News is looking for a Digital Producer to produce digital news connecting our website and social media to the newscast.
You will help create fun, social media campaigns that can be incorporated to our news programs as well.
Additional Job Description
The Digital Producer leads the transition from broadcast focused newsrooms to multi-platform newsrooms through active daily example; providing training in methods, processes and tactics; as well as in creating / editing original content beyond that which is produced for on-air.
Produce a steady stream of interesting original content as well as content shared from other stations in the country
Expert understanding of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms
Use social media and Website to build and reinforce brand recognition and drive viewers to television
Excellent Writing Skills
Gathers information about events through research, interviews, experience or attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, social or other functions
Pitches stories during morning and afternoon editorial meetings with local emphasis
Quick to report to Breaking News
Always on a hunt for exclusive and / or trending content
Excellent at writing headlines that grow audience and engagement
Understands different ways to tell a story, particularly producing short videos and choosing great photos from station archives and stock photography options
Research and analyze background information related to news stories in order to be able to provide complete and accurate information
Shoots and edits content for on-air and digital
Produces reports for all platforms
Build positive working relationships with station staff and management, work collaboratively on digital content original for the platform, and create opportunities to market web content on broadcast
Ensures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
Builds and calendars digital campaigns to promote local shows and specials
Finds new ways to use Social Media and our website to engage with viewers
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills :
Degree in journalism; daily newspaper or news site experience required; live, working web samples and / or print pages preferred
Proficiency in Associated Press style, Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Basic HTML preferred
CSS, Flash and other relevant technology skills is a plus
Maintain positive work environment through active team participation and cooperation with co-workers in all departments
