What are the responsibilities and job description for the Document Control Specialist position at KYOCERA AVX Greenville LLC?
The successful Document Control Specialist will manage and coordinate the operation of the document control system for Engineering and Production documentation. They will ensure the functionality of the system meets the requirements of ISO 9001 and MIL-STD-790 standards. This position will require a high level of attention to detail and provide quality services to Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams across a multi-national manufacturing process.
Duties & Responsibilities- Work with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to help achieve group objectives.
- Participate in problem solving activities to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Support the company Quality Management Systems and compliance to ISO 9001 and MIL-STD- 790
- Update engineering documents and maintain electronic controlled document files.
- Maintain the document control system to ensure that all users have the latest accurate revision of appropriate documentation.
- Confers with originators to resolve discrepancies and compiles required changes to documents.
- Review documentation and ensure existing documents meet approved format and template
- Ensures the correct and timely input of database entries.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive filing system and database.
- Coordinates the maintenance, collection, storage (including lifting of heavy boxes), archiving, destruction, and retrieval of documents and quality system records.
- Travel to other AVX locations as needed for training.
- High School Diploma required, Associate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years related experience
- Knowledge of Document Control fundamentals and Quality Systems
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Demonstrates flexibility, i.e. willingly takes on new tasks.
- Understand the essential physical and electrical characteristics for our products (ceramic capacitors and EMI filters)
- Candidate must be a self-directed, detail-oriented, dependable, and trustworthy person who works well independently, while being highly motivated
- Ability to manage time well and support multiple ongoing projects / tasks.
- Ability to interface and collaborate with various levels of management, customers, suppliers, and other AVX personnel.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and MIL-STD-790 is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with quality tools such as SPC, MSA (Gage R&R), and corrective action reports (8D) is preferred but not required.
