Job Summary
Lab Technicians are responsible for receiving, testing, analyzing, recording and reporting results of their tests.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:
· Installs display refrigerators and freezers (assembly / disassembly / brazing required / electrical connections), unloading of the test media in a laboratory environment.
· Installs test instrumentation (thermocouples, pressure transducers, mass flow meters, ammeter, voltmeter etc).
· Performs initial operation checks and adjust settings as required / directed.
· Performs testing of display refrigerators and freezers in accordance with test protocols / procedures.
· Assists in troubleshooting of equipment and test instruments and ensure timely initiation of corrective steps.
· Maintains an accurate test logbook, record of instrumentation layout and maintains documentation of concepts, designs, experiments, drawings and processes.
· Assists in analyzing and interpreting the results
· Modifies equipment under test as directed by the refrigeration engineer.
· Maintains laboratory equipment and instrumentation to ensure safe, uninterrupted and reliable operation of the test laboratories.
· Verifies the accuracy of instrumentation and coordinates the periodic certification of the instrumentation.
· Assist and work with the engineers, designers and manufacturing for creating drawings and working prototypes for development and validation testing.
· Maintain adequate inventory of the supplies and tools for completion of development, testing and maintenance functions.
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Skills
Required:
· Associate’s degree in a technical field (preferred)
· Must possess at least 2 years of experience in the commercial or industrial refrigeration industry in the service or engineering departments
· Familiarity with UL and NSF standards is desirable
· General proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT) is expected.
· Experience with data acquisition software is desirable.
· Certified Type I and Type II technician under Section 608 of the Federal Clean Air Act.

· Handling a variety of machinery and equipment
· Job requires the ability to stand and walk on concrete surface for entire shift, including overtime
· Must be fully mobile throughout a large facility
· Must be able to reach, grasp, pull, push, squat, bend at the knees and waist, crawl, climb a ladder, lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds, two people lift up to 70 pounds
· Involves some repetitive use of hand tools
· Requires exposure to indoor and outdoor weather extremes
