Maintenance Technician (1st Shift)

Job Summary
Maintenance Technician use electrical tools to safely identify electrical problems, install, repair and maintain wiring, motors, generators, power for machines, controls, lighting and other such electrical equipment. Assists Electrician with main power supply for plant and other high voltage areas. Uses welding equipment and hand, power and pneumatic tools to identify general maintenance problems, construct, assemble, repair, move and remove equipment, and perform routine maintenance on company facilities including, but not limited to, building, grounds, off-site facilities, equipment and machinery.
 

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:

·       Performs work as assigned by supervisor/manager

·       Monitors materials within the department

·       Performs work assignments and completes associated paperwork

·       Able to work independently to maintain production, efficiency, quality and discipline. Function as part of a self-directed work team

·       Contributes to team effort by focusing on achieving results that are linked to company goals and objectives

·       Maintains proper housekeeping

·       Knows and observes safety regulations and precautions

·       Performs other duties as assigned
 

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Skills
Required:

·       High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency

·       3-5 years experience in general maintenance, preferably in manufacturing 

·       Capable of performing the work at a high level

·       Operate electrical, pneumatic and/or hand tools, welding equipment, forklifts and other motorized equipment.

·       Must have working knowledge of HVAC, motors, couplings, belts, chains and shafts, bearings and seals, hydraulic and pneumatics, gear drives and clutches, fasteners and torque, welding including MIG, gas and arc

·       Brazing plasma cutting, spot and resistance welding.

·       Other disciplines include carpentry, plumbing and tubing, and electrical principles, motors and generators and similar disciplines.

·       Must have sound knowledge of all areas of plant.

·       Able to read tape measure, perform calculations, write legibly, read and interpret specifications and schematics.

·       Presents a positive model for Performance Management criteria as defined by Kysor//Warren.

·       Must display sound judgment.

·       Working knowledge of IT solutions.
 

Associated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
·       Must have broad generalist knowledge of routine maintenance including, but not limited to, building, equipment, grounds, and equipment and machinery

·       Must have a working knowledge of HVAC, motors, hydraulics and pneumatics, gear drives and clutches, welding, including MIG, gas and arc, brazing, spot, and resistance welding 

·       Other areas of required knowledge include carpentry, plumbing and tubing, electrical principles and application, and motors and generators

Working Environment & Conditions/Physical Requirements:
·       Handling a variety of machinery and equipment 

·       Job requires the ability to stand and walk on concrete surface for entire shift, including overtime 

·       Must be fully mobile throughout a large facility

·       Must be able to reach, grasp, pull, push, squat, bend at the knees and waist, crawl, climb a ladder, lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds, two people lift up to 70 pounds

·       Involves some repetitive use of hand tools 

·       Requires exposure to indoor and outdoor weather extremes
