The Host at KYU plays a key role in creating a welcoming and efficient front-of-house experience by managing guest reception, coordinating seating arrangements, and supporting overall restaurant operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome guests upon arrival with a warm and professional demeanor.
  • Manage the reservation system, including taking reservations, updating the guest list, and handling special requests or accommodations.
  • Coordinate and manage seating arrangements to ensure a smooth flow of guests and optimal table turnover.
  • Provide accurate wait time estimates and communicate effectively with guests regarding their seating status.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized host stand and waiting area.
  • Collaborate with the service team to ensure timely and efficient guest seating and service.
  • Handle guest inquiries and concerns with professionalism and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Assist with the check-in and check-out process, ensuring accuracy in guest records and transactions.
  • Support the front-of-house team by assisting with tasks such as running food, refilling beverages, or bussing tables as needed.
  • Uphold KYU’s service standards and values, ensuring a positive and memorable experience for all guests.
  • Monitor and manage guest flow during peak times to minimize wait times and optimize seating arrangements.
  • Maintain knowledge of the restaurant’s menu, specials, and policies to effectively answer guest questions and provide recommendations.
  • Assist in training new hosts on standard operating procedures and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a guest-facing role, preferably as a Host or similar position in a restaurant or hospitality environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude and a professional demeanor.
  • Experience with reservation and waitlist management systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
