Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. WE LOVE OUR WORK.
- Participates in emergency drills and training sessions.
- Acts as the Response Team member to perform the fire, safety, and emergency procedures of the casino to ensure the safety of patrons, employees, and the property.
- Meet the expected performance standards of each task assigned.
- Maintain all equipment on board the vessel at a level commiserate with a premier gaming resort.
- Execute all tasks as assigned by the Riverboat Superintendent.
- Ensures that all vessel machinery is maintained in a high state of readiness and that all systems operational; notifies Riverboat Superintendent of necessary repairs.
- Performs routine inspections and monitors all systems of the vessel; notes and corrects any discrepancies. Complete cleaning duties and maintenance/repair tasks on the vessel.
- Examines machinery for specified pressure and flow of lubrication.
- Participates in renovation and construction projects.
- Assist with casino plumbing concerns.
- Monitors casino atmosphere, reports all temperatures, air quality to the Riverboat Superintendent.
- Assists with all HVAC main filter changes.
- Assists Riverboat Superintendent in overhauling and adjusting machinery.
- Stands watch in the event of any emergency situation.
- Adhere to all regulations established by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board and Louisiana State Police Gaming, Code of Federal Regulations and other applicable agencies pertaining to riverboat gaming and vessel operations.
- Maintains department record, logs, and other necessary paperwork as well as engineering log to record pertinent data according to department policy.
- Performs general cleaning duties to ensure adherence to cleanliness standards.
- Oversees the facility department in the absence of the Riverboat Superintendent.

- Ability to review and comprehend all necessary documentation.
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers, outside contacts, and all levels of employees.
- This position is physical in nature and requires the incumbent to effectively and efficiently move around all work areas and lift, carry, and may be required move up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and steps.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently move around all areas of the vessel in order to perform accurate inspections.
- This position operates in an environment that is subject to varying levels of noise, cold, heat, humidity, vibration, crowds, and smoke. Incumbents are often subject to hazards associated with the use of hand and power tools, machinery, chemicals, and other hazards incurred in operating and maintaining a vessel.
- Experience in repair and maintenance of vessel mechanical systems.
- Ability to work independently and complete projects and solve problems with limited supervision. Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of high school or a trade school and three (3) years mechanical background with electricity, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC. Prior experience on board riverboats preferred.
