Daytime Custodian

Job Summary: The Janitor for County Buildings is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in various county-owned facilities. This role ensures that public spaces, offices, restrooms, and other areas are kept clean, orderly, and safe for employees and visitors. MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK. MUST BE A RESIDENT OR LEGAL RESIDENT.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including replenishing supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper).
• Empty trash cans and recycling bins, disposing of waste properly.
• Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and handrails.
• Maintain and clean floors, carpets, and other surfaces in accordance with health and safety standards.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools, such as floor buffers, vacuums, and scrubbers.
• Report any maintenance or repair needs to the Facilities Management department.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, placing orders as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.
• Respond to emergency cleaning requests and special projects as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous janitorial or custodial experience is desirable.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks independently.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and safety.
• Good physical condition and the ability to lift and move items up to [specify weight].
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends if required.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on job location and duties.
