Overall Responsibilities:
The maintenance engineer position is responsible for the overall maintenance of the building, grounds and equipment on site. This includes, but not limited to, building, warehouse and production equipment, inventory, including efficient processing of emergency shutdowns, new processes or new equipment and effective coordination with purchasing, production, and management to meet customer needs.
Essential Duties
Management of Equipment
- Ability to work efficiently to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and get equipment back in working order as soon as possible.
- Must be able to work well under stress.
- Perform regular equipment upkeep and maintenance and perform preventative maintenance.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment for equipment needs and repairs.
- Ability to work with technology to complete general service ticket requests.
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance with production personnel.
- Great communication with purchasing department for ordering of necessary materials.
- Ability to coordinate unscheduled maintenance with production and freight personnel in a timely manner to ensure on time delivery of materials.
Grounds Maintenance
- Snow removal.
- Ice melt/sand distribution.
- May require afterhours work to get debris removed prior to the open of business.
Other Duties
- General repairs, such as painting, patching walls, hardware adjustments and other tasks as assigned.
- Compliance with proper safety & security procedures.
- Maintains a clean work environment.
- Generate suggestions to reduce costs, waste, and to improve the efficiency and accuracy of Production and Customer Service.
- Work with management and staff personnel to establish and improve business procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Manage resources efficiently and responsibly in the best interests of the company.
Qualifications Required
- Education: Degree from vocational or technical trade school or the equivalent work experience in a plant maintenance position is required.
- Experience (years/type): Minimum of three years experience general maintenance or business operations in a manufacturing, production, or distribution operation.
