What are the responsibilities and job description for the Boat Captain position at L & L Marine Services?
The Captain is responsible for the safe navigation and operation of L&L Marine Services vessels and the safety of the crew and passengers. Maintains the safety and appearance of the vessels. Specifically, they are expected to meet minimum physical requirements, be familiar with the location of all equipment on board the vessel and demonstrate the ability to respond to emergency situations. LLMS Captains maintain the safety of the guests as well as interact with them before, during, and after the voyage. The primary duty of a Captain is to monitor the passengers and work alongside the crew all aspects of vessel operations including emergency situations.
This job will commence in May, 2025.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of the vessel throughout South Lake Tahoe.
- Provide a superb guest experience – greet guests, setting the tone for the cruise, ensuring a positive experience
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor at all times
- Maintain accurate cruise records
- Aid in training and development of crew members
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays
- Coordinate reporting and completion of any and all necessary repairs with maintenance personnel
- Ensure the cleanliness of the vessel at all times, including helping in the cleaning process
- Report any and all incidents of maritime casualty or security discrepancy in a timely manner
- Maintaining all logs on a daily basis
- Reinforce the importance of safety and situational awareness in a professional environment
Qualifications:
- Current United States Coast Guard (USCG) 6-pack or greater Master license.
- Able to stand for a minimum of 6 hours on wet and moving surfaces in open console vessels with limited protection from wind and seas.
- Pre-employment and random drug testing is required as mandated by the USCG.
- Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident as required per USCG regulations
- Current first Aid, CPR and AED certifications.
