POSITION SUMMARY
Urban Decay Cosmetics is seeking to hire a Manager of Product Development to manage all phases of the product development process for new launches and reformulations / renovations of existing products. The individual will be responsible for bringing creativity and innovation to their category, while holding the operational and organizational skills needed in order to keep projects on track. The Manager will ensure launches are on trend, innovative, first to market, on time, and within cost targets. This position reports to Director of Product Development who oversees Urban Decay Product Development for all categories.
KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Stay up to date on all trends and makeup usage shifts and propose formulas / product ideas accordingly.
- Oversee the product development process from new product initiation to completion of production for all new product launches and reformulations.
- Collaborate with the creative and marketing teams for product concepts and design.
- Responsible for sample organization, creation and maintenance of tracking charts and product masters library.
- Track all project milestones, partnering with development for the most recent deadlines and following up with all cross functional teams on tasks they are responsible for.
- Brief suppliers on project details including concept, formula and pack requirements, marketing ingredients, COG targets, timing, compliancy requirements, etc.
- Provide feedback on formula / pack proposals from suppliers, following up for future submissions.
- Manage the tracking of new competitive innovations both mass and prestige
- Collaborate with cross functional teams (marketing, development operations, R&I, global business development, internal labs, etc) for product launch strategies and execution
- Track claims testing with support from our internal claims team, managing the creation of new claims request briefs and tracking timing.
- Have a keen awareness of trends consumer feedback and competitor activity in order to recommend color shades formula and provide research to help facilitate product innovation
- Engage and actively participate in the world of social media to include Instagram, Snapchat, Youtube, Tik Tok etc. to stay up to date on product trends and work closely with social team to ensure trend relevancy of product launches, shades, packs, etc.
- Attend industry conferences and lectures to keep informed of new product packaging directions and trends.
- Travel to suppliers both domestically and internationally to complete onsite shade matching or oversee first production batches as needed.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Salary Range : $90,200- $128,500 bonus
