LS Black Constructors is a leading construction company dedicated to delivering high-quality projects for federal clients. With a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, we are expanding our team and are currently seeking a Quality Control Manager for our Federal Division. This is a 100% traveling position.

Job Summary:

The primary role of the Quality Control Manager is to oversee and manage all aspects of construction quality control on federal projects. The Quality Control Manager will have the authority to act on all matters related to quality control for LS Black Constructors, ensuring compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Control Implementation: Responsible for the implementation of the U.S. Corps of Engineers' three-phase Quality Control Process and the Construction Quality Control Plan.
  • Daily Reporting: Prepare and review daily reports to track project quality and compliance.
  • Inspection Scheduling: Ensure proper scheduling of preparatory, initial, follow-up, and final inspections.
  • Meetings Coordination: Conduct preparatory and inspection meetings to align team efforts on quality expectations.
  • Quality Assurance: Prevent, stop, or correct quality control deficiencies, defective work, or non-compliant work on-site.
  • Stop Work Authority: Exercise "stop work" authority when necessary to prevent performance inconsistent with contract documents.
  • Quality Problem Resolution: Investigate, research, define, and isolate quality problems and actively participate in their resolution.
  • Record Maintenance: Initiate and maintain quality control records, review procedures, and monitor documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Submittal Monitoring: Monitor and update the submittal register and review all submittals for compliance with contract documents.
  • As-Built Drawings: Ensure that as-built drawings are updated as required by the contract documents.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support project success.

This position is designated as safety-sensitive, requiring the incumbent to adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines to ensure personal and public safety at all times.

Qualifications


Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Quality Control Manager (or in a similar role) within a construction-related organization.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of the general construction industry and sub-trades.
  • Specifications Understanding: Comprehensive understanding of construction specifications and standards.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively direct, organize, and communicate with team members at all levels, including Project Managers, Project Superintendents, Design Professionals, and owners’ representatives.
  • Multitasking Ability: Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Deadline Management: Proven ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Stress Management: Ability to perform effectively in stressful situations.
  • Critical Thinking: Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Leadership Skills: Effective leadership skills to guide the quality control team.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • Federal Construction Experience: Previous experience working on federal construction projects is preferred.
  • Software Knowledge: Familiarity with RMS 3.0 is a plus.
