Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Inspect equipment and parts for damage, diagnose possible reasons for issues.
- Wind, assemble, and install various types of coils in AC/DC rotating machines using industry best practices.
- Operate specialized repair and testing equipment used in electrical rotating apparatus repair industry.
- Braze using oxy-acetylene, induction, and/or resistance welding techniques.
- Sottering medium and high volt coils.
- Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective equipment.
- Able to perform all essential functions of the job which include, coil winding, inserting coils and the ability to follow electrical diagrams.
- Complete required job documentation.
- Provide feedback to assist in accurate costing and work scope development for rewind projects.
- Utilize manufacturer’s recommendations and industry best.
- Conduct preventive maintenance as required on equipment in your work area.
- Clean and organize the shop, as required to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
- Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by manager.
- Oversee the plant manufacturing process /processes with the production facility and setting standards to ensure on-time production and quality objectives are met.
- Ensure department specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met and make plans to meet requirements set forth by the master plan.
- Understand production goals and drive for results focused on meeting production forecast and ensuring budgeted labor is within plan.
- Responsible for facility requirements; security, machine performance, and safe work environment
- Provide on-the-job training for department employees.
- Schedule and prioritize work to be performed by department
Competencies:
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Capable of operating hand, power and specialized tools.
- Comfortable with operating computers.
- Willing to work overtime, on weekdays, and or weekends to meet customer service requirements.
- Prior experience in a position of responsibility managing people, time and work assignments preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for supervising all assembly employees.
Work environment:
- This position is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands:
- This position is very active and requires standing, walking, climbing, crawling, bending, stooping, crouching, and climbing at times.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
- Daily use of PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toed safety shoes, respirator, face shield.
Required education and experience:
- High school diploma, plus five years’ experience in a motor repair shop and one year of supervisory experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in supervision or related field or equivalent experience
- Prior experience in a position of responsibility managing personnel, time, and work assignments, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with rigging and lifting heavy loads, and operating overhead cranes.
- Forklift operation experience.
Location: This job will start out with training at our Appleton facility - but will eventually be moving to our Hortonville facility.
