Job Summary

As a Trainee at L&S, you will work alongside industry experts to expand your plumbing, electrical and HVAC knowledge and experience to ensure the successful completion of all installations.

More specifically, you will support superintendents in preparing houses for stage completion for each trade as applicable.

In addition, as a Trainee, you will be required to participate in an in-house development program to gain the knowledge and skills to perform all aspects of each trade to become a Tri-Trade superintendent or service technician as the positions become available and knowledge and skills are successfully demonstrated.

The ideal candidate would be driven, deadline oriented, and will have a strong desire to grow and learn in a fast-paced industry.

General Responsibilities

• Assist assigned superintendent in preparing trade stage completion.
• Transport materials to job sites across multiple areas.
• Complete punch list tasks as assigned by the superintendent.
• Read and interpret blueprints to understand plumbing, electrical and HVAC installations and layouts.
• At the end of each stage, perform detailed walkthroughs to assess if installations are done correctly and meet standards and generate an initial list for superintendents to be aware of the status of installation.
• Identify common issues with trade stage installations and inform the superintendent or make necessary adjustments and repairs as necessary.
• Learn and remain up to date with basic codes, regulations and requirements as it applies to each specific neighborhood or municipality.
• Actively check and respond to electronic communications.
• Fully participate in the development program.

Qualifications

• Own a reliable vehicle to be used for work purposes van or truck preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with little supervision.
• Open to growth and receptive to feedback.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position - working in indoor and outdoor elements with extreme variation in temperatures and weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow);

climbing ladders and steep stairs, crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects.
