Builds and modifies tools, dies, jigs, molds, and fixtures using precision bench and machining operations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conducts tests for completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications
- Cuts, shapes and trims blocks to make adjustments
- Grinds and adjusts different parts to properly fit them together
- Selects metals to be used based on properties
- Ability to maintain tight tolerances
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Manual dexterity
- Detail oriented
- Organizational skills
- Experience with the use Surface Grinders
- Experience with Manual Bridgeport machining
- Experience with Manual Lathe machining
- Experience with General Drill Press work
- Experience with the use of Lap Belt machines
Preferred Vocational/Technical Education
Years of Experience:
- Minimum 4 years - Maximum of 6 years of experience.
- Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. May act as a lead or first-level supervisor. Typically requires accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 4 to 6 years of experience.
