Accountabilities Include
Performs Essential Job Duties:
- Demonstrates personal and profound integrity that is sensitive to staff and community partner’s identity, environment, experiences, values, and beliefs.
- Participates in all aspects of residency program including patient encounters, didactic and specialty rotations, evaluations and special projects.
- Works with mentors and preceptors to increase skills in clinical care.
- Attends educational sessions to increase knowledge of clinical medicine, La Clinica organizational systems, leadership, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) use.
- Collaborates effectively with clinical team members in preventive care, treatment of acute and chronic illness.
- Treats a mixed patient population, across gender, age and ethnicity, and payor status.
- Obtains, performs, records, and maintains patient histories and physical examinations.
- Evaluates and treats acute and chronic illnesses and injuries.
- Performs or orders appropriate laboratory tests, x-rays, and other tests.
- Obtains consultation or referrals for patient services not provided by the clinic.
- Provides health promotion services, including school physicals, immunization clinics, well-child clinics, well-woman clinics, adult focus clinics, blood pressure screening clinics, nutritional counseling, and family planning counseling.
- Provides additional services determined by agreement with Residency Medical Director.
- Adheres to team agreements and assists in any revisions as necessary.
- Provides emergency services to patients when necessary and in accordance with La Clinica’s policies and procedures and generally accepted standards of care. All clinical services shall be provided in accordance with La Clinica’s Scope of Project for purposes of coverage under the Federal Tort Claims Act.
- Sees patients at primary clinic and other sites as assigned by La Clinica.
- Completes and maintains all privileging/credentialing requirements and standards established by La Clinica.
- Participates in non-clinical duties as requested, such as, but not limited to, meetings, peer review, quality improvement activities, and medical care-related policy/procedure/protocol development. Cooperates with La Clinica’s quality assurance and utilization review protocols.
- Responds to the recommendations for new or modified approaches to patient treatment recommended by peer review and utilization review processes. Complies with all contractual requirements regarding credentialing, utilization management, quality assurance, grievance procedures, provider directory listings, and any other policies and procedures that such contracts may require.
- Maintains confidentiality of patients by complying with HIPAA policies.
- Completes assigned trainings via La Clinica’s learning module system (Relias) by required due date.
- Continues medical education as necessary to meet requirements of licensure by the Oregon State Board of Nursing or Oregon Medical Board and to maintain competency in the practice of family medicine and hospital privileges.
- Adheres to the ethical standards imposed or prescribed by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American Nurses Association, American Medical Association (AMA), the Oregon State Board of Nursing, the Oregon Medical Association, and the Oregon Medical Board.
- Proficiency in computer, electronic medical records systems, software programs, and other program management technology.
- Understand the ethical standards imposed or prescribed by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American Nurses Association, American Medical Association (AMA), the Oregon State Board of Nursing, the Oregon Medical Association, and the Oregon Medical Board, as appropriate.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be sensitive with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.

- BLS HealthCare Provider (First Aid/CPR)
- Graduation within the last 18 months from an accredited NP or PA program.
- Must be able to obtain a State of Oregon FNP or PA license and NPI number by date of hire.
- DEA License
- Preferred bilingual English/Spanish
- Experience with diverse communities and low-income children and families; migrant community health
