La Comunidad, Inc (LCI), is a grassroots community based non-profit organization whose mission is to achieve the full participation and development of the Latino/e immigrant population alongside other communities in Everett and its surroundings; developing a combined strategy of community organization, political advocacy, systemic change and efficient provision of quality services based on principles of social justice, community solidarity, and self-management.

The ESOL program's mission is to empower students by providing the environment and lessons needed to help them to protect, defend, and declare themselves in their neighborhood and community. We want everybody to be a part of and be comfortable in their community in all aspects of their life. This includes work, their living situations, and political action.
The ESOL program runs 5 pm - 8 pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays from 9-1 pm. We are hiring 1 teacher for this role; the ESOL team consists of 3 teachers and a coordinator and we teach up to level 2B in the Ventures curriculum, currently. Teachers are paid one hour of planning time per day, which is included in the timeframe above.
Duties and Responsibilities for ESOL Teachers:
❖ Be fully fluent in English and a second language
❖ Organize/ Prepare materials and resources relevant to the course including project work, quizzes, tests, and any assignments needed
❖ Check and correct homework/ workbooks
❖ Check on students’ progress in a timely manner and submit biweekly reports to Education Coordinator
❖ Follow the schedule given by the Education Coordinator while implementing their own language pedagogy
Requirements:
❖ Fluency in English and Spanish, other languages are a plus
❖ Curriculum development experience
❖ At Least 6 months of experience teaching adult learners in ESL, ESOL, TESL a plus
❖ Familiarity and sensible with the Central and South American culture

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
