Job Description
Join the Summer School Age Program as a Summer Counselor and provide opportunities for enrichment, physical activity, field trips, healthy eating, and positive relationships for elementary kids in a full-day summer program based in the elementary schools in the La Crosse, Onalaska, and Holmen school districts. We are looking to grow our team and influence the future of our community!
Responsibilities:

Facilitate fun and engaging group activities such as games, sports, swimming, arts and crafts, field trips, and STEM activities

Build relationships with elementary kids and families

Ensure supervision and safety of participants

Provide mentorship and maintain behavior expectations for elementary kids using positive guidance techniques
- Ensure healthy meals and snacks are distributed daily as part of the Y’s Youth Food Program
Hours and Locations:
- Seeking candidates available to begin training for summer camp starting in May

Positions available beginning May, 40 hours per week during the summer

8.5 hour shifts Monday-Friday between 6 am and 6 pm
Summer Counselors will work on-site at an elementary school in the La Crosse, Onalaska, or Holmen school districts -
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or at least 16 years of age with additional training provided
- CPR certification within 3 months of hire date
- Some child development courses or experience preferred
- Reliability and clear communication
Able to work effectively in a team -
