Flexible Part-Time Schedule : This position offers an ideal balance between your nursing studies and work, featuring set shifts every other weekend and the flexibility to pick up additional hours.
Location : Hillview Health Care Center is in La Crosse, WI, on the city bus line and bike trails!
Shift : Day Shift or PM Shift available! Saturday & Sunday shifts every other weekend, and additional hours are open during the week! Staff also work a holiday rotation.
PM Shift : 2 : 30 PM to 11 PM
Wage :
PM Shift : $22.96 / hour and $25.46 / hour on weekends with differential.

Essential Job Functions
Under supervision of a registered nurse, provides direct nursing care including administering medications and treatments.
Provides for the safety and well being of the resident in accordance with nursing home policies and procedures.
Serves as liaison between resident and RN in charge of residents care. Communicates appropriate resident information to RN.
Carries out physician's orders under the direction of a RN. Seeks clarification when communication / directions are not clear.
Carries out assigned duties promptly, safely and accurately.
Seeks appropriate assistance in solving clinical problems.
Employee is expected to report to work when scheduled, with minimum use of sick leave, to build up sick leave balance for income protection for unexpected illness.
In this public service position, employee is required to be courteous, cooperative and respectful at all times, with the public and clients. Establishes and maintains a courteous, cooperative and respectful working relationship with other employees, supervisors and public officials.
Works safely and follows safety practices and standards of the facility; responsible for reporting or correcting any existing or potential safety or accident hazard.
Maintains residents' rights and confidentiality of resident information; reports all suspected cases of resident abuse to the supervisor immediately.
Physical demands : Up to 75% of time is spent standing, talking, and charting. Walking, hearing, reading, and using near vision are used about 50% of the time. Reads and writes. About 25% of time is spent sitting, bending / twisting, reaching (over beds), feeling (checking patients), and low amounts of handling (insulin caps and IV tubing) and low fingering for taking pulse. Activities done about l0% of time include stooping crouching, low to very high lifting - up to 60 lbs. to transfer patients, and pushing patients in wheel chairs. Uses nursing related equipment such as : B / P cuffs, stethoscopes, V.S. machine, bladder scanner computer, thermometers, glucometers, scales, mechanical lifts, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to perform computer charting.
Demonstrated of competency in the required skills for the position.
Training, Experience and Other Requirements
Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant and on the Wisconsin State Registry.
Must maintain documented 12 hours annual in-service education required for CNA.
Must successfully pass a background check as required by Wisconsin Caregiver Law.
Nursing student must maintain passing grades in all nursing classes. After graduation from an accredited nursing program, the graduate nurse must pass the state licensure exam within six months to continue in the nurse technician role.
Must maintain CPR certification.
Administrative Code Reference :
The Nurse Technician always functions under the direct supervision of the registered nurse. Under Section N 6.02(6), Wisconsin Administrative Code, direct supervision means immediate availability to continually coordinate, direct and inspect at first hand the practice of another. This has been interpreted by the Board to require that the supervising RN must be on-site with the Nurse Technician.
Under Section N 6.03(3), Wisconsin Administrative Code, the supervising RN may delegate acts within the scope of professional nursing to the Nurse Technician, provided that the RN does the following : 1) Delegates tasks commensurate with educational preparation and demonstrated abilities of the Nurse Technician; 2) Provides direction and assistance to the Nurse Technician; 3) Observes and monitors the activities of the Nurse Technician; and, 4) Evaluates the effectiveness of acts performed by the Nurse Technician.
The Nurse Technician is not licensed to practice nursing either as an RN or LPN. The Nurse Technician functions only as a result of tasks delegated by the RN who provides direct supervision. While certain nursing tasks may be delegated to the Nurse Technician, the functions of assessment and evaluations may not. Those responsibilities must be done in conjunction with the RN. Nurse Technicians are not allowed to call a medical provider or process any physician orders. They must call a Registered Nurse for any 'as needed' medication to be given to a resident. Nurse Technicians are not allowed to check insulin another nurse draws up.
Benefits for this position depend on the number of hours worked.
If the position is part-time, then limited benefits would be available (this would not include insurances unless 30 hours per week or more).
If the hours are less-than-half-time, then there are no benefits available.
