Job Summary
Provide continuous and comprehensive services necessary for the promotion of optimal mental health, prevention and treatment of psychiatric disorders and health maintenance. This includes the assessment, diagnosis, and management of mental health problems and psychiatric disorders. The PNP works collaboratively with other on site medical and mental health providers as well as with community LPC’s.
Duties and Responsibilities-Provides clinical services
1. Work collaboratively with a physician and/or mental health provider of record, (if one exists), to provide comprehensive adult and adolescent mental health services.
2. Through patient evaluation, determine a differential diagnosis and plan for intervention.
3. Adhere to standards via identified text and/or via office practice standard protocols.
4. Maintain a customer-oriented approach to meeting patient needs in an expedient manner, involving the family in the plan of care as appropriate.
5. Maintain confidentiality and patient privacy.
6. Document care provided; meeting standards for quarterly chart reviews.
7. Seek consultations as appropriate, act as a consultant as requested.
8. Facilitate the process of ethical decision making as appropriate.
9. Perform comprehensive assessments and refer patients for further care and services within the larger community.
10. Utilize teaching learning theory with patients and their families to influence patient outcomes.
11. Identify learning needs of various populations and contribute to the development of educational programs to meet those needs.
12. Identify system specific problems, which require evaluation and/or change; work with appropriate staff to resolve these issues by participating in performance improvement processes.
13. Takes an active role to contribute to the improvement of office functioning.
14. Maintains professional courtesy at all times.
15. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required
· Knowledge of advanced principles of health promotion, prevention and motivation
· Knowledge of protocols in general and an ability to quickly gain specific knowledge of the Center’s current operational protocols
· Knowledge of medical terminology and appropriate abbreviations
· Demonstrates knowledge of the Texas Medical Practice Act
· Ability to document, with clarity, all information relevant to a patient’s needs
· Ability to effectively present information in small group situations to patients, Center staff, and the general public
· Ability to use office equipment including but not limited to computers, fax machines, telephones and copiers
Preferred
· Spanish speaking and writing skills
Credentials and Experience
Required
· Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with an Advance Practice Nursing degree in Psychiatry.
· Current certification from the Texas Board of Nursing Examiners to practice as an Advance Practice Nurse –Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Texas
- Annual continuing education as required by Board specialty
- Must be registered and have current DEA, DPS and other such certificates to legally operate as an Advance Nurse Practitioner in the State of Texas
- Hospital privileges at designated area hospitals if required for specialty
· Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Professionals Certification
Preferred
· One (1) year of practice experience as a PMHNP giving direct patient care

Pay: $108,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
