POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Youth Employment Career Navigator works in collaboration with the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) to provide job readiness training, coordination of employment services, and job placement to a caseload of promising youth ages 18 to 24 in Alameda County. All services focus on getting youth re-engaged, trained, and employed through paid internships with collaborative partners and business owners. This role will uphold and champion the agency’s mission, vision, and values and contribute to a collaborative and inclusive work culture.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with youth from multicultural and disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Provide comprehensive assessment and produce Individual Service Strategy Plan.
- Counsel youth one-on-one; assist youth with life skills and resolution of difficulties impeding the progress and successful outcome of basic skills training, occupational training, and job readiness.
- Ability to disseminate and coordinate information on the local economy and employment trends to advise employers, partners, and ACSSA management.
- Make logical and judicious decisions and provide workable solutions to problems; weigh alternative decisions and reduce outcome risks.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to use collaborative approaches to build support for objectives; build positive relationships within and outside the agency; effective and timely dissemination of information.
- Requires excellent facilitation skills and organizational leadership skills.
- Goal and result oriented; ability to meet time commitments and follow through to task/job completion; strong work ethic, output, and capacity for responsibility.
- Refers youth to other appropriate Youth Service Providers in the region for additional assistance.
- Provides job development and appropriate job referrals to WIOA youth participants.

- Attend trainings and participate in events relevant to key responsibilities
- Track and regularly report on key metrics for responsible function areas
- Leads and collaborate on special projects related to agency objectives as appropriate
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Two (2) years of demonstrated experience in civic activities, community, employer, and/or workforce organizations/programs from which a candidate could show benefit.
- Provide evidence of adequate preparation, background, or experience for the position with emphasis on subsidized targeted youth services and youth service elements.
- Experience: Two (2) years of directly related work experience in an administrative or services capacity in the private or public sector;
- Non-Profit and Community Based Organization experience highly desirable.
- Demonstrates and models excellent “customer service” orientation, especially in the ability to interact with people at all levels within and outside the agency.
- Thinks independently and can make informed decisions when needed.
- Exercises extreme discretion with the ability to hold, balance and transmit public and confidential information needed by various parties.
- Proficient using MS Office products, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Acquires or maintains proficiency in using Google Drive products, including Docs, Sheets, and Forms.
- Valid CA Driver’s license
