THE POSITION:
The Data Quality Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate collection, input, and correction of data as identified by LA Family Housing. This role includes overseeing, reviewing, and compiling reports to ensure the accuracy and integrity of participant files, electronic records, and program data and outcomes. The Data Quality Specialist is expected to have a high level of expertise in HMIS and is required to maintain the highest level of accuracy.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
DATA QUALITY
- Maintain client information through data entry into program database/HMIS system to ensure accuracy for monthly, quarterly and annual contract reports.
- Ensure integrity of data, verifying information regarding data quality and data completeness.
- Research to identify the causes of inaccurate data, the resolution required, and execute the necessary data correction procedures in HMIS. This will also include executing the procedures developed by the Performance Team, in conjunction with the Data Manager and Data Unit.
- Assist the Data Manager and Data Unit in the research and resolution of data errors identified by the Performance team. Following organizational procedures, notify team members when resolution steps have been executed.
- Assist with program reconciliation on an ongoing basis.
- Work with Data Unit and Programs to ensure that regular data correction reports are sent and corrections are made in a timely manner.
COMPLIANCE
- Ensure HMIS data is supported by documentation in participant file for those items required by Data Team exit procedures.
- Provide support to Compliance Team, as needed.
OTHER:
- Attend agency and community meetings as directed by supervisor.
- Additional tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
WHAT YOU'LL SKILLED AT:
- Proficient in constant electronic data entry.
- Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating a customer service focus when interacting with internal teams and external contacts.
- Demonstrate initiative and sound judgment when handling unclear or questionable data, with the ability to derive intent from non-standard submissions.
- Manage multiple priorities and projects effectively within tight departmental metrics and deadlines, while also adept at handling conflicting priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Programs such as Word and Excel.
- Exhibit keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills, valuing accuracy and quality of work. Collaborative team player within a cohesive team environment.
OTHER:
- Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPAA standards
- Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
- Ability to pass post-offer Tuberculosis (TB) clearances
- Travel is a regular duty for this position and is required 5-10% of the time
- Use of personal vehicle to travel between worksites and other locations is required
- Must have and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and auto insurance in good standing
- Ability to work a 9/80 work schedule
WHAT YOU'VE ACCOMPLISHED:
- Associate’s degree in computer science, public administration or related field OR equivalent experience
- Minimum of two (2) years in data entry or administrative/clerical roles.
