Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing incoming payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position requires strong analytical skills and proficiency in accounting software to effectively track and report on financial transactions.
Duties
- Process and record incoming payments accurately and timely.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports to identify overdue accounts.
- Communicate with clients regarding payment discrepancies or outstanding balances, utilizing excellent phone etiquette.
- Prepare and send invoices, ensuring adherence to GAAP standards.
- Collaborate with the accounts payable team to reconcile discrepancies between accounts.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions in financial software, such as PeopleSoft.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports as needed, ensuring compliance with SOX regulations.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation related to accounts receivable.
Experience
- Proven experience in an accounting or finance role, particularly in accounts receivable or governmental accounting.
- Familiarity with accounting software and financial software applications is essential.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles and SOX compliance requirements.
- Excellent math skills for accurate data entry and financial analysis.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
- Previous experience using PeopleSoft or similar systems is a plus.
