What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fitness Equipment Technician LA Fitness position at LA Fitness Intl?
To provide prompt, effective repairs to fitness equipment in LA Fitness clubs to ensure correct and safe operation. To perform preventive maintenance according to established procedures and schedules.
Communicate clearly and cooperatively with club personnel as to condition of equipment, repairs completed, outstanding issues, status of preventive maintenance, etc. Coordinate any deviations from schedule with Supervisor, assigned Service Coordinator and the Operations Managers in clubs affected by a schedule change. Exhibit a friendly and helpful attitude at all times toward club personnel and other Company employees and managers as well as club members.
Place parts orders and requests for manufacturer warranty service through the maintenance module. Submit Indoor Cycle PM Forms for Company record and order cycle parts using standard parts ordering procedures. Communicate with Service Coordinator on any parts or service not received within expected timeframe. Maintain a procedure to keep track of orders placed, orders received and orders that are outstanding.
Check part shipments upon receipt for correctness. Report any errors to the Service Coordinator. Sign and date packing lists and forward to Corporate weekly to avoid delays in payment of invoices.
Document all service work and preventive maintenance on standardized Company forms or through use of Company’s Maintenance computer program, as may be prescribed.
Exercise safe equipment repair practices and safe driving habits at all times.
Maintain a neat and clean appearance at all times, despite the “unclean” nature of some repair work.
Exercise care of the Company service van. Keep inventory and tools stored neatly and dispose of trash. Have the van washed weekly and serviced (oil change/tire rotation) every 5000 miles. Inspect tires and critical components often and ensure that van is serviced at intervals according to the manufacturer’s Maintenance Schedule. Report any van problems promptly. Vans shall be subject to inspection at any time and without prior notice.

- Broad technical competence, including understanding of electronic, electrical, electromechanical and mechanical systems. Associates’ Degree or military training in electrical/electronics preferred.
