Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Group Fitness Director to lead our group fitness department. The Group Fitness Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of our group exercise programs, from class design and scheduling to instructor recruitment and client engagement. This role is vital in ensuring a dynamic and inspiring fitness experience for our members.
Key Responsibilities:
- **Program Management**: Develop, implement, and oversee a diverse range of group fitness classes tailored to meet the needs and interests of our clientele. Ensure classes are aligned with industry trends and best practices.
- **Instructor Leadership**: Recruit, train, and supervise a team of talented and certified group fitness instructors. Conduct regular evaluations to ensure high-quality instruction and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- **Scheduling**: Create and manage the group fitness class schedule, ensuring a variety of class offerings that accommodate different fitness levels and interests. Optimize schedule to maximize attendance and space utilization.
- **Client Engagement**: Foster a welcoming and motivating class environment that enhances member satisfaction and retention. Implement strategies to increase class participation and receive regular feedback from attendees.
- **Marketing Collaboration**: Work with the marketing team to promote group fitness programs, including special events, new classes, and instructor highlights. Develop initiatives to attract new members and retain current ones.
- **Safety and Compliance**: Ensure all classes and equipment are safe and that instructors adhere to the company's safety guidelines and industry standards. Address any safety concerns promptly.
- **Facility Coordination**: Coordinate with facility management to ensure studios and group fitness spaces are clean, organized, and properly equipped.
Qualifications:
- **Education**: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
- **Certification**: Current group fitness certification from a recognized organization such as ACE, AFAA, Les Mills, or similar is required.
- **Experience**: At least 3-5 years of experience leading group fitness classes with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- **Leadership Skills**: Proven ability to inspire and lead a diverse team of fitness professionals.
- **Communication Skills**: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to engage and motivate clients and staff alike.
- **Organizational Skills**: Strong multitasking abilities with attention to detail in managing schedules, budgets, and strategic planning.
- **Industry Knowledge**: Comprehensive understanding of current fitness trends, techniques, and safety practices in group fitness settings.
Working Conditions:
- Environment: Primarily based in LA FITNESS, with potential off-site community events.
- Hours: Flexible schedule, with availability to cover various shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Physical Demands: Regular demonstration of exercises and participation in fitness activities are required.
