Job Description
The Executive Director of the La Grange Business Association is responsible for the management, membership, finances and operations of the organization. Reporting into the LGBA Board of Directors, the Executive Director is also the liaison to the Village of LaGrange. This role requires a dynamic leader who can effectively manage the association’s operations while driving its mission and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Management:
· Provide visionary and strategic leadership to the organization
· Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective operations
· Lead, coach and develop the LGBA’S staff and volunteers
· Foster a positive and collaborative work environment with the La Grange businesses, the Village of La Grange and partnering organizations like the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce
2. Member Engagement
· Review and execute new membership template
· Create new member welcome kit and renewal package
· Work with Membership Committee to implement strategies to increase membership and retention rates
· Develop and implement strategies to increase member engagement and satisfaction
· Develop member programming to provide necessary resources for every category/level of membership
· Act as primary liaison between the LGBA and its members
· Host monthly meetings of Membership to communicate LGBA and member business
· Host Ribbon-Cuttings for new member businesses
· Organize monthly member events, and networking opportunities
· Manage and effectively communicate the monthly member calendar consisting of member meetings, educational programming, and member networking events
· Plan the State of La Grange (October)
3. Special Events
· Manage the marketing, sponsorships and all details for Public Facing events on behalf of the Village of La Grange including but not limited to:
i. Restaurant Week (February)
ii. Spring Shop and Stroll (April)
iii. Carnival (May)
iv. Farmers Market (May through October)
v. Craft Fair (July)
vi. Sidewalk Sale (August)
vii. West End Arts Festival (September)
viii. Halloween (October)
ix. Small Business Saturday (November)
x. Holiday Walk (December)
4. Strategic Planning
· Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the LGBA’S strategic plan
· Identify and pursue opportunities for growth and development
· Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of programs, services, member events and public facing events
5. Financial Management
· Oversee the fiscal health of the LGBA including budgeting, financial reporting and managing event return on investment
· Develop and implement funding strategies
· Identify and Execute State and Federal Grants
· Provide all necessary financial reports to the Village of La Grange
6. Communications, Marketing and Public Relations
· Serve as primary spokesperson for the LGBA and respond to all media requests concerning special events
· Develop a communications, public relations and marketing strategy for all member initiatives and special events
· Plan and buy all media
· Manage the creation of all social media content for all LGBA Social Channels
· Manage the Designer and Agencies
· Maintain and re-develop the LGBA website to include both business and consumer audiences
· Develop content for the Weekly LGBA newsletter
· Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including members, sponsors, community partners, the Village of La Grange staff and Trustees
· Build and maintain the LGBA’S Public image and reputation
· Ensure consistency in Brand messaging
7. Operational Management
· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the LGBA
· Optimize operational processes and systems for efficiency and effectiveness
· Manage the LGBA’s resources including office space, technology and other office equipment and systems
· Attend bi-monthly Village of La Grange Board of Trustee meetings
8. Board Support
· Support the Board of Directors in fulfilling governance responsibilities
· Prepare and Executive and Board meeting agendas
· Facilitate effective communication between Board and staff
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, membership-based associations, or a related field
· 7-10 years of proven experience in a leadership role within a membership-based organization or related field
· Strong financial management skills including budgeting
· Sponsorship sales and fulfillment experience preferred
· Excellent communication and public speaking skills
· Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
· Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills
· Special event management preferred
· Marketing and social media skills preferred
Salary Range: $60K-$70k
