Overview
The Hedis/ Medical Records Coordinator plays a vital role in managing and maintaining the integrity of patient medical records within a healthcare setting. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who is proficient in data management and possesses a strong understanding of medical terminology. The ideal candidate will work closely with the team to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory standards.
Duties
- Organize and maintain patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Requesting and receiving of medical records.
- Conduct telephonic outreach to members and providers to close care gaps and encourage participation in preventive health screenings (e.g., mammograms, colorectal cancer screenings, diabetes care).
- Educate members on the importance of preventive care and guide them on how to complete necessary screenings or appointments.
- Utilize data analysis skills to assess the quality of medical records and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems, particularly ATHENA, to streamline data entry and retrieval processes.
- Collaborate with providers, providers offices, care management team and others to ensure proper documentation for HEDIS reporting and managed care requirements.
- Implement system design improvements to enhance the efficiency of medical record management.
- Stay updated on healthcare regulations and best practices related to medical record keeping.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
Experience
- Proven experience in data management within a healthcare environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical trials, and bioinformatics is beneficial.
- Experience using Athena or similar EHR systems is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets effectively.
- Knowledge of HEDIS measures and managed care processes will be an advantage.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for maintaining accurate records.
