Job Description: We are seeking a dependable and motivated Delivery Driver to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering freshly baked bread to various retail locations via Direct Store Delivery (DSD). This is a customer-facing position that requires strong time management skills and an excellent understanding of safe driving practices.
As a Delivery Driver, you will be expected to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of bread products, maintain the condition of the product during transport, and provide exceptional customer service at every stop. This position plays a vital role in our daily operations, ensuring that our customers receive fresh products while contributing to the overall success of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Delivery: Safely and efficiently deliver fresh bread products to a variety of retail locations. Ensure that products are delivered on time and in optimal condition.
- Route Management: Follow the designated delivery route to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. Adhere to the delivery schedule and notify the supervisor of any issues or delays.
- Inventory Verification: Double-check orders against delivery invoices to ensure that the correct amount of product is being delivered to each location. This includes confirming that all items are correctly handled and recorded.
- Customer Service: Communicate directly with store managers, assistants, or designated contacts at the receiving locations. Provide courteous and professional service, addressing any inquiries or issues the customer may have.
- Product Handling: Properly store and handle bread products in the vehicle during transportation to prevent damage and preserve freshness. Ensure proper unloading and placement of bread in the store.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure that the delivery vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and operational at all times. Perform routine checks and report any mechanical issues, accidents, or damages to the supervisor immediately.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies while operating the vehicle. This includes ensuring that all safety equipment is used as required and maintaining a clean driving record.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate delivery records and report back to the supervisor about any customer issues, inventory discrepancies, or delivery concerns. Document and report any damages or missed deliveries promptly.
Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License: Must have a valid, clean driver’s license and a good driving record. Ability to drive large delivery vehicles (e.g., vans or box trucks) as needed.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and carry heavy bread boxes and other items (up to 50 lbs) multiple times throughout the day. Must be able to load and unload the vehicle without assistance.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to interact with customers, coworkers, and supervisors. The ability to resolve minor conflicts or issues professionally.
- Dependability: Must be reliable, with excellent time management skills and the ability to follow schedules and routes.
- Attention to Detail: Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately, with no missed items or mistakes. Attention to detail is crucial when verifying orders and handling products.
- Experience: Previous experience in delivery, logistics, or a customer-facing role is preferred but not required. Experience with DSD delivery is a plus.
- Availability: Ability to work on designated delivery days, which may include early morning or late-night shifts, depending on the delivery schedule. Flexibility with work hours may be necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in food delivery or direct store delivery (DSD).
- Knowledge of local area routes and traffic patterns.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Starting Wage: $19.00 per hour with a 90-day review with an opportunity for an increase depending on learning and performance.
Work Hours: We are looking for full-time, part-time, or per-diem positions. Hours will vary depending upon the employment status, agreed upon by the company.
