POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for administering therapy modalities or treatment as supervised by the Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Therapist based on a current plan of care outlined by the evaluating therapist. Rehabilitation Technicians will work in outpatient and inpatient side of rehabilitation to ensure continuous flow of patient care and preparing patients for therapy. The rehabilitation technician assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Supports patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The Rehabilitation technician participates in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. Additionally, the Rehabilitation Technician aids in cardiac rehabilitation by monitoring vitals and relaying the information to the rehabilitation team, and nurses.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Prepares physical therapy and other medical equipment during appointments.
2. Coordinates with the rehabilitation team to implement the treatment plan.
3. Greet and receives patients when they arrive for appointments.
4. Safety administer modalities as directed by supervising therapists.
5. Scheduling, faxing, managing referrals, collecting patient information including insurances cards, licenses.
6. Disinfect therapy equipment before and after each treatment.
7. Ensure cleanliness and sanitization of the treatment area and facilities.
8. Able to safely operate all exercise equipment including patient setup as directed by Therapists or Nurse.
9. Knowledge of normal vitals signs and abnormal vital signs in order to report to Therapist or nurse.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS
DP - Typical Direct Patient Care environment:
Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently.
Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs.
Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision.
Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects.
Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair.
May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.
May require periodic use of personal computer.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
Salary : $15 - $19
