Job Title: Thrift Store & Warehouse Lead

Position Summary: The purpose of the Thrift Store (warehouse, dock, store) is to collect donations and sell them as quickly as possible to raise funds to take care of the animals in the Shelter. The primary duties of a Lead are to receive donations, sort them in the warehouse, put them in the store, assist customers with purchasing items, and to support the Manager with opening and closing duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Greet customers and assist shoppers and donors as needed. Use a customer service approach when responding to customer questions, comments, or complaints. Maintain a cheerful, welcoming, and supportive attitude toward all customers, staff, volunteers, and donors. Represent LPCHS in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner. Share the mission of LPCHS with customers or the general public in an informed and enthusiastic manner.
- Teamwork: Ability to work with a variety of people in a busy work environment. Work collaboratively with staff in the Thrift Store, Shelter, and Animal Protection. Remain in compliance with LPCHS dress code and hygiene standards.
- Cleaning: Maintain the entire work area in a clean and sanitary condition. Clean and repair merchandise. Clean and organize the store, displays, and warehouse as needed.
- Independence: Receive direction and independently execute tasks with minimum supervision. Report for work at scheduled time, ready to perform work functions, and remain on task while completing the entire scheduled shift. Follow all safety procedures.
- Receiving: Associates assist donors by accepting donations at the “dock” and offering donors a “receipt”. Sort donations into bins and transfer to the warehouse.
- Warehouse: Sort, clean, and prepare donated items for the sales floor in accordance with standard operating procedures. Transfer items to the appropriate departments.
- Sales: Ensure availability of merchandise on the sales floor by stocking departments in a timely manner. Operate the cash register, credit card machine, and computer as needed to assist customers with sales transactions and managers with data collection and inventory.
- Opening and Closing: Open and close the store as assigned by the store manager. Count cash and prepare it for bank deposits. Process special purchases, refunds, discounts as requested by the Manager. Key holder.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A minimum of 6 months of work experience
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds
- Must be able to sustain hours of standing, walking, lifting, and bending
- Ability to use a cash register
- Willingness to work on the dock, in the warehouse, and in the store as needed
- Comfortable working with cats and dogs
