Position Summary:
The Bartender at Buds Bar, located within La Playa Hotel, is responsible for crafting cocktails, providing excellent service, and creating a memorable bar experience for our guests. This role requires a strong knowledge of mixology, outstanding hospitality skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, upscale environment. The Bartender will contribute to the ambiance of Buds Bar, ensuring that guests have a comfortable, enjoyable experience that reflects the luxury and charm of La Playa Hotel, and our purpose...Making Space for Genuine Hospitality!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Beverage Preparation:

    • Create and serve a variety of cocktails, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with Buds Bar’s menu and standards.
    • Maintain knowledge of cocktail recipes, wine selections, and local ingredients, offering recommendations to enhance the guest experience.
    • Ensure accurate measurements, preparation techniques, and garnish presentation to deliver consistently high-quality drinks.
  • Guest Service:

    • Provide friendly, attentive service, engaging guests in a welcoming manner to create a positive bar atmosphere.
    • Respond promptly to guest requests, adapting to specific preferences and accommodating special requests where possible.
    • Handle guest inquiries regarding the menu, ingredients, and special promotions, enhancing the experience with personalized recommendations.
  • Bar Maintenance and Organization:

    • Keep the bar area clean, organized, and well-stocked throughout shifts, following health and safety regulations.
    • Monitor inventory of bar supplies, including glassware, garnishes, and mixers, restocking as needed.
    • Assist in bar opening and closing procedures, including setting up, restocking, and cleaning to prepare for the next shift.
  • Cash Handling and Transaction Management:

    • Accurately process guest payments using POS systems, maintaining accountability for cash, credit, and room charges.
    • Follow established procedures for managing tabs, ensuring accuracy and professionalism in all transactions.
  • Compliance and Safety:

    • Comply with all health, safety, and alcohol service regulations, ensuring a safe and secure environment for guests and colleagues.
    • Stay informed of and enforce hotel policies related to responsible alcohol service.

Requirements:

  • Previous bartending experience, preferably in a luxury or high-volume environment.
  • Strong knowledge of spirits, cocktails, beer, wine, and mixology techniques.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with guests.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • California Food Handler’s Card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification are required or must be obtained upon hire.
