La Rabida Children’s Hospital is currently hiring a full-time Executive Director for Inpatient Operations.


Executive Director for Inpatient Operations Job Summary:

The Executive Director of Inpatient Operations provides functional and administrative supervision and is responsible for leading, planning, managing, and directing all activities and programs for inpatient services. The Executive Director functions as a team builder and takes an active role in assuring coordination of care, by collaborating with the entire healthcare team, including the medical staff, and other clinical and support services. Serves as an innovative key leader who assures accountability and follow-through by utilizing critical thinking skills to problem solve and provide support. Member of the senior leadership team.


Executive Director for Inpatient Operations Essential Functions:

Leadership:

  • Advances the SS La Rabida in innovation by identifying improvement opportunities, strategic planning, and developing solutions consistent with evidence-based research.
  • Accountable for implementing and following through on new initiatives, strategies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Promotes innovation and undertakes quality improvement initiatives.
  • Functions as a resource and provides support to leadership, patient care staff, medical staff, students, and others in the acquisition of knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborates with the Clinical Educators, Director of Quality, and the Vice President of Patient Care Services to ensure policies and procedures are reviewed and updated and ensure that the application of policies is consistently maintained
  • Participates in and chairs assigned team committees and takes responsibility to ensure that members carry out their duties and processes are put into place and monitored.
  • Participates in professional organizations and maintains own professional development.


Communication and Relationship Management:

  • Develops and manages a team of high-performing leaders by ensuring interdisciplinary planning, coordination, and service delivery
  • Facilitates the development of critical thinking and clinical judgment in team members through role modeling, teaching, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Prioritizes the patient experience by assuring consistent family communication from the multidisciplinary team.


Knowledge of the Healthcare Environment:

  • Strong focus on patient safety, quality, and compliance performance in conformance with effective operational, financial, and business development activities.
  • Actively participates in strategic planning in collaboration with the executive leadership team.
  • Demonstrates ability to see the broad picture, manage multiple variables, and utilize systems thinking. Sets and monitors performance metrics in collaboration with executive leadership.
  • Leads the coordination of care for patients pre-arrival, during the stay, and post-discharge ensuring that the team has identified the necessary new equipment, supplies, and education of staff needed to implement the plan of care.
  • Serves as a change agent, assisting others in understanding the importance, necessity, impact, and process of change.


Business Skills and Principles:

  • Demonstrates the ability to adjust to a rapidly changing environment. Analyzes trends and changes in the healthcare environment including care models through literature review, QI, regulations, and outcome data.
  • Enhance operational effectiveness emphasizing cost containment and high-quality patient care.
  • Partners with marketing, business development, and clinical personnel to identify/evaluate/recommend program enhancements and new opportunities for programs, and as needed represents the program to external constituencies
  • Maintains a broad understanding of financial management by analyzing and forecasting the financial impact of the department.


What we need from you:

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, MSN preferred. A minimum of 4 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience including in-patient hospital operations; pediatric setting preferred.


Related Work Experience:

  • Four or more years of progressive clinical healthcare leadership experience in a hospital setting
  • Experience with electronic medical records, and other healthcare computer systems and applications.
  • Strategic Vision Skills. The ability to anticipate future trends, establish goals and objectives, and articulate them into clear and concise business plans.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles and trends in healthcare administration, including fiscal management, government regulations, physician relations, contracting, and team building.
  • Enhances professional development and maintains professional affiliations with relevant clinical associations.
  • Proven ability to interact and work collaboratively with senior leadership, board members, physicians, and a variety of individuals and groups.
  • Superb research, data interpretation, analytical, and reporting skills with the ability to bring analyses to bear on solving operational problems.
  • Strong facilitative skills, with the ability to compel others to strive to meet continuous improvement objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience in building effective teams and an ability to delegate, lead, mentor, and develop professionals

Specialized Knowledge and Skills strong interpersonal skills required; excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to successfully mediate and solve complex operating issues involving the interests of multiple constituencies

Compensation Information:

Pay Range: $130,443.77 - $221,754.41
