Job Summary
The Manager of Infection Prevention and Quality Improvement is a key leader responsible for integrating infection prevention practices with quality and performance improvement initiatives across La Rabida Children’s Hospital. This role oversees surveillance, compliance, data analytics, and the strategic deployment of evidence-based interventions to mitigate healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and drive continuous clinical improvement. The manager works closely with interdisciplinary teams, regulatory agencies, and senior leadership to align outcomes with organizational goals, patient safety standards, and national quality benchmarks. The Manager will also oversee the employee health department/vendors.

Essential Functions
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the hospital-wide infection prevention and control plan.
- Monitor adherence to protocols based on CDC, NHSN, APIC, CMS, and local/state regulations.
- Analyze infection trends, antimicrobial resistance patterns, and compliance indicators to inform strategic priorities.
- Ensure consistent readiness for accreditation surveys (e.g., The Joint Commission) and inspections by health departments.
- Develop, implement and oversee Employee Health Services policies and procedures and provide oversight of employee health vendors
- Oversee mandatory health screenings and immunizations (e.g TB Testing, flu shots) and ensure compliance with hospital policies
- Develop and deliver targeted infection prevention and quality improvement education across disciplines
- Collaborate with clinical and operation leaders to develop, lead, and sustain QI initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and/or PDSA frameworks
- Education- Master's Degree (Public health, Nursing, Health Administration or related field)
- Related Work Experience- Minimum 5 years in infection prevention and quality improvement in a healthcare setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership or program management role preferred
- Licensure/Certification- Certificate of Infection Control (CIC) required. Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent healthcare quality certification preferred
- Specialized Knowledge and Skills- Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical concepts, and disease management. Ability to analyze complex data and communicate sensitive information. Proficient use of Microsoft office suite. Ability to create reports, graphs, and other visual presentation materials, and effectively maintain statistical data. Knowledge of evidence-based, best practice resources to promote efficiency and effective outcomes. Ability to problem solve, lead multi-disciplinary teams, use conflict management, and team building skills. Detail oriented and able to prioritize and organize data and complex projects. Experience using Excel, pulling data through reports, and experience using any standardized performance improvement tools preferred.
