Job Summary:
The Speech-Language Pathologist (Staff) provides speech, language and oral motor/feeding diagnostics and therapeutic intervention to pediatric inpatients and outpatients.
Develops and implements treatment plan based on clinical assessment; utilizes treatment methods appropriate to developmental level, with consideration of sensory and medical status.
Selects formal and informal measures to assess mode of communication, parent understanding of child's communication and development, sensory information regarding vision and hearing, play and behavior, receptive and expressive language, oral-motor/feeding skills, attention, fluency, voice, articulation, pragmatics, respiratory function, state regulation, level of alertness, memory.
Provides speech, language, feeding/swallowing, and hearing screening as necessary.
Become competent with hospital’s practice management system, including electronic medical recordkeeping modules, as needed.
Complete clinical reports in a timely fashion (initial evaluations, re-evaluations, discharge summary)
Develop IRSP - revise every six months for inpatients and every 12 months for outpatients
Create treatment plan for patients on caseload; Track progress on schedule as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Master's degree in Speech and Hearing Science or equivalent required
- At least 2 years of professional experience required. Pediatric experience and hospital experience preferred
- Current Illinois licensure (or license pending) required
- ASHA CCCs required
- Early intervention credential preferred
- Knowledge of AAC preferred
- Knowledge of oral-motor and feeding therapy techniques preferred
- Bilingual preferred
- CPR required: Only certifications issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross will be accepted.
