Job Summary
Provides medical services within the scope of licensing, training and credentialing on young patients from birth to early adulthood. Pediatricians are concerned about the health of infants, children and teenagers. This is a specialized field as the patient can’t often speak for themselves, so it’s up to the pediatrician to work with the parents and develop an appropriate assessment and diagnosis.
Essential Responsibilities

- Maintains a program of comprehensive health for infants to teenagers which includes preventive medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health.
- Plans and carries out medical care program for children from birth through adolescence to aid in mental and physical growth and development: Examines patients to determine presence of disease and to establish preventive health practices.
- Prepares and reviews medical histories and obtains data through physical exam and interviews with parent or guardian.
- Examines patients, formulates differential diagnostic plans, defines and orders diagnostic testing.
- Determines nature and extent of disease or injury, prescribes and administers medications and immunizations, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury in children.
- Advises patients, parents or guardians concerning diets, activity, hygiene and disease prevention.
- Treats children who have minor illnesses, acute and chronic health problems, and growth and development concerns.
- Plan and execute medical care to aid in the mental and physical growth and development of children and adolescents.
- Refers patients to specialists as necessary.
- Prepares reports as required.
- Consults with CMO and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment and education issues.
- Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes. Reviews quality assurance data and monitors for acute and chronic care management.
- Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions. Encourages focus on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to patients and their families.
- Practices medicine in accordance with the current standards of care for Primary Care and in accordance with the criteria adopted by La Red Health Center.
- Communicates appropriately with the person served regardless of his/her age.
- Maintains cultural competency and demonstrates an ability to work with diverse ethnic and racial populations.
- Recommends kind and quantity of medical supplies and equipment.
- Provides leadership and consultation to clinical personnel.
- Completes patient EMR documentation in a timely manner. Documents patient assessment and intervention data.
- Demonstrates skill and proficiency in an electronic medical records environment which includes patient data collection, e-prescribing, patient portals and other electronic means of patient care.
- Promotes a safety conscious workforce and maintains good housekeeping.
- Initiates innovative safety programs to address the needs of the organization.
- Attends trainings, completes audits and coordinates OSHA responses.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited medical school with a degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) and completion of a residency program.
- Board certification in specialty or completion of accredited residency in pediatrics.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine within the State of Delaware
- Current DEA certificate without restriction
- Current Delaware Controlled Substance Certificate
- Flexibility to work irregular hours and to work with multi-cultural, diverse patient population.
Language Skills:
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred. Ability to converse in French Creole a plus.
Equipment Operated:
Wide range of standard medical equipment including portable Ultrasound equipment, nebulizer, syringes, speculum, oxygen tanks, wheelchairs, thermometers, etc. Computer use and proficiency required.
Work Environment:
Medical exam/treatment rooms and medical offices in Health Center. Controlled lighting, air quality, and temperature settings. Environmental hazards may be unpredictable including exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
Involves standing, walking, kneeling, bending, grasping, manipulating and squatting and lifting (up to 50 lbs.). Walking or standing may be more than four (4) hours per day. Must be able to work in a standard medical office setting including use of a computer, and standard office equipment. Must have ability to read computer screens, printed materials and hearing and speech to communicate in person as well as over the phone. Must be able to attend meetings or make presentations at various sites when required. Stress can be triggered by workload and complex cases.

Salary : $175,000 - $200,000
