What are the responsibilities and job description for the Section Manager of Production position at LA Semiconductor?
As a Production Section Manager, you are responsible for the development of our Shift Manager team in efficient and effective operation of our processing equipment. This is to be achieved through the development and reinforcing of metrics used to monitor and gauge success by shift and overall as a composite group. An emphasis of this role is to ensure alignment in principle and practice across all shifts and all managers.
In addition to driving fab KPI success, the Production Section manager must monitor and mentor Production Shift Managers in the development of a strong manufacturing team.
Your regular presence on the production floor is a key tool in the development of your shift managers. Seeing, in person, how they interact with their teams, behave in meetings, provide feedback and share messages, provides opportunities for feedback and coaching.
As Shift Managers must often be the first responders for a wide variety of situations, you must provide a manager playbook to simplify these situations. This playbook should be aligned with our HR standards.
This role is 50% strategic and 50% tactical in nature.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Using key metrics and your own fab knowledge, monitor the health of the Fab and mentor shift managers on priority management as needed. You must become an expert at interpreting these metrics and mentor shift managers in developing this expertise.
- Provide additional tools to help drive execution improvements.
- Assist in escalation of safety observations to appropriate stakeholders for resolution. Provide issue tracking tools to ensure that issues are followed through to closure.
- Monitor and reinforce standardized identification and escalation of production impactors to insure the even and efficient flow of our production line.
- Oversee monitoring and escalation of hold and priority material in our line to get it dispositioned, released and processed. Support escalation as needed.
- Coach and lead identification, development and execution of continuous improvement projects that are aligned with the mission and strategic vision of the site.

- Promote a culture of safety in your team by setting a good example and reinforcing correct behaviors.
- Build a rewards and recognition culture in your team where peers recognize peers using programs made available to you.
- Promote a “winning team” culture by establishing benchmark performance metrics and reinforcing execution standards. Pay particular attention to whether each shift sets up well for the oncoming shift.
- Hold 1-1 meetings with your team members on a regular periodic basis. These meetings are to gauge personal engagement, career motivation, follow up on previously discussed concerns, performance recognition or corrective feedback. These meetings are a tool in improving our culture. Ensure that these events reinforce behaviors that build a winning culture.
- Oversee and mentor the department training readiness metrics and coach the building of a flexible team through deliberate cross training. This should ideally be done through a system of training profiles and LMS reporting. Section Managers should leverage improved reporting capability and training profiles.
- Oversee a Career Path and Succession plan system, intended to prepare team- members for future roles to create a readiness pipeline for various future roles in our organization. Conduct biannual review of rising talent and evaluating how best to invest in our best team members.
- Conduct performance management sessions, as needed, as part of our discipline process for employees whose behavior or attendance are out of guidelines or are a disruption to our operation.
- Manage and mentor members of the Production Management team in appropriate and standardized assessment methods for both mid-year and end of year performance appraisals.
- Provide guidelines and expectations for daily pass down, weekly reports, updates on shift metrics and progress on projects.

- 15 years of semiconductor factory experience across any disciplines
