What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeper position at La Serena Villas?
RESPONSIBILITIES
According to company policies, procedures and standards:
- Adhere to room cleaning and stocking checklist guidelines
- Vacuuming, sweeping and/or mopping floors
- Dusting, brushing, polishing and vacuuming furniture
- Dusting and cleaning room decorations, appliances and structural surfaces (eg wall fixtures, window sills, vents)
- Changing linen and making beds according to procedures
- Cleaning and disinfecting showers, tubs, sinks and bathroom items
- Removing used guest amenities and trash
- Replenishing guest amenities and supplies
- Checking for damaged linens
- Reporting lost and found articles, maintenance problems, special room problems and damage in rooms to a supervisor
- Maintaining storage rooms and work buckets
- Moving soiled linens and towels from guest rooms to laundry quickly
- Punch room status on computer as cleaning completed
- Inspect and report room damage or maintenance problems to supervisor immediately
- Report any unusual activity to supervisor/management
- Report items left by guest to front desk immediately
- Advise supervisor/management of any outstanding Do Not Disturb rooms at 1pm
- Providing information to guests about hotel services, facilities, amenities or local attractions
- Respond to special guest requests or complaints such as extra pillows, etc.
- Assist other staff as needed
SERVICE
- Basic knowledge of hotel: location of guest rooms, services, etc.
- Always professional, polite and courteous when around or approached by guests or staff
- Always knocks and calls out before entering guest room
- Maintains a clean working environment at all times
- Resolves or refers guest complaints to management
- Be alert to guest needs
POLICIES & PROCEDURES
- Adheres to company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook, training manuals, training sessions, property signage and state and federal laws and regulations
- Adheres to company’s attire and grooming requirements at all times
- Punctual for assigned work shift and meetings
- Attendance as scheduled
- Knowledgeable on company policies & procedures
- Observes company policies and legal requirements related to Safety & Health, Disaster Preparedness and Fire Evacuation in the workplace
- Reports deficiencies in a timely manner to appropriate manager or staff
- Attends company meetings and training sessions as required
- Responds to “on-call” situations
TEAMWORK
- Performs extra duties as assigned
- Full cooperation with supervisors
- Good teamwork and cooperation with supervisors and staff
- Maintains good positive working attitude when performing duties
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2-5 years related job experience preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests, management and staff both verbally and in writing
- Excellent organizational abilities
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Basic familiarity with computer
- Basic fluency in English. Fluency in other languages a plus but not required
- Exert physical effort in transporting up to 25 pounds
- Ability to use hospitality-related equipment (computers, vacuums, etc.)
- Ability to do repetitive physical movements including walking, climbing stairs, bending, lifting, squatting, etc. is required by position
- Must be authorized to work in the US
- Must have dependable transportation to/from work
