What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Professor - Mathematics Lecturer position at La Sierra University?
The Department of Mathematics is seeking candidates for a full-time appointment on the Lecturer track.
The position's responsibilities include teaching courses that comprise the undergraduate Mathematics curriculum. These include courses for the mathematics major as well as Foundational courses for General Education. In addition to teaching courses, faculty members are expected to provide service to the department through student mentoring and curriculum development and assessment. Service on university committees is also expected.

The Department of Mathematics offers 3 undergraduate degrees in Mathematics : BS degrees in Biomathematics and Mathematics, and a BA in Mathematics : Secondary Teaching. We are also responsible for providing College Level Mathematics courses as part of the General Education curriculum, and Mathematics service courses to support other science majors, including Chemistry, Physics, and Computer Science.

We are particularly interested in candidates with the following :
Earned Master’s or PhD in Mathematics or related area
Commitment to creating a strong undergraduate Mathematics community on campus
Experience teaching courses in undergraduate Mathematics, including Foundational courses
Evidence of strong teaching / pedagogical skills.
Background in statistics or data analysis, and with experience teaching statistics at the undergraduate level
Experience with various statistical and data analysis packages and other related software
Expertise in the application of mathematics as pertains to areas of growth for the department : STEM education, applications of mathematics, Data Science
Education / Experience / Qualifications
Earned graduate degree in Mathematics or related field or will have completed degree requirements by January 2025. Candidates must be members of the Seventh-day Adventist church.
