Floor Manager

The Restaurant Manager assists the Restaurant General Manager (GM) in the day-to-day operations of full-service restaurant. Functionally reports to the Restaurant GM and oversees front-of-house restaurant staff including servers, bartenders, food runners, hosts, bussers and barbacks.

• Supports the Restaurant GM with hiring, assigning, training, evaluating and terminating employees.
• All new hires and terminations must have GM in final decision making process. All schedules must be pre-submitted to GM by Wednesday, so GM can review and send to staff Thursday.
• Documents, investigates, escalates and resolves all employee and guests incidents.
• Inspects dining room and storage areas to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Estimates front-of-house food and beverage needs, and supervises intake orders to ensure specifications.
• Responsible for creating training plans and ensuring they are implemented/updated for the servers, server assistants, bussers. All training plans must be double checked by GM.
• Focus specifically on service for servers, server assistants, bussers.
• Deliver excellent guest service including personally greeting and seating guests.
• Is responsible for POS for daily changes that pertain to that shift (new menu items, price change, 86’ items, etc.)
• To be familiar with the food and beverage items on menus.
• Supervises staff in terms of guest service, cleaning, and repairs to restaurant and grounds.
• Reviews financial information such as sales, inventory and costs to monitor budget.
• Meets with dining room and bar personnel to plan restaurant activities, special events, share information, etc.
• Work on revising all steps of service, side work, etc with GM as environment changes.
• Have strong communication with GM, Chefs, Events department, co-managers, and kitchen to communicate any issues, concerns, or ideas.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of steps of service.
• Previous restaurant experience required.
• Willingness to work mornings, evenings and weekends as required.
• Outstanding communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
• 2 years of experiencing leading or managing a front-of-house restaurant team.
• Knowledge of Italian cuisine and beverage highly preferred.

Job Requirements

• Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule often including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting.
• Food Handler’s License preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The work that restaurant managers do is both physically and mentally demanding. They are on their feet much of the time. Managers must work well under pressure and exercise tact and patience when dealing with employees and customers. Restaurant managers in this position typically work fifty to sixty hours a week.

This position requires employees to work in close quarters with other employees and/or guests which may result in physical, non-sexual contact with other employees and/or guests.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.
