Position Summary

We are seeking a Community Resilience Case Manager who will play a key role in LA Voice’s wildfire response efforts. We are seeking a licensed social worker for a six-month position with the possibility of extension. The role requires engaging with diverse communities effectively, offering compassionate assistance, and fostering long-term recovery solutions. This role will help individuals and families recover by providing essential support, connecting them with community resources, and advocating for equitable recovery policies.

In the immediate aftermath of the Los Angeles Wildfires, LA Voice activated our rapid response network to provide immediate support and relief to our communities. These efforts have included :

  • A Resource Hub for affected congregations and their constituents, empowering them to self-advocate and to receive the assistance to which they are entitled.
  • Research Hub : LA Voice is sending organizers to evacuation shelters to track and measure community needs.
  • Rapid Response : We have created a grant pool to support congregations and community members affected by recent wildfires, responding to the emergent needs of its community through online applications.

The Community Resilience Case Manager will bring social worker expertise to our Community Organizer’s efforts, providing case management services to individuals who have been impacted by the wildfires. They will :

  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify and prioritize the urgent requirements of wildfire survivors, including navigating insurance processes, addressing supply gaps, and facilitating access to direct cash assistance.
  • Provide personalized guidance and advocacy to help individuals and families secure essential resources for their recovery.
  • Potentially provide case management support to immigrant members of the LA Voice network who are in need of services and support
  • Utilize LA Voice’s congregational network, in collaboration with local affiliate LA Voice, to link affected families to community organizing initiatives.
  • Foster trust and solidarity, empowering survivors to participate actively in efforts toward equitable recovery.
  • Skills and Experience

  • Must be a licensed social worker, ideally with prior experience in disaster response, community organizing, case management, or related fields.
  • Language Proficiency : Fluent in English and Spanish, effectively communicating and providing services in both languages.
  • Cultural Competency : Ability to provide culturally sensitive services to diverse populations, respecting the unique needs and backgrounds of each individual.
  • Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information and advocate for clients.
  • Organizational Skills : Proficiency in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up on assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Collaboration : Ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels, as well as with external partners and coalitions, to achieve common goals.
  • Problem-Solving : Skilled in identifying issues, developing solutions, and implementing effective strategies to address challenges faced by disaster survivors.
  • Compensation : This is a full-time, salaried temporary role with an annual salary range of $62,000- $75,000 depending on skills and experience. The role will be for six months with some possibility of extension. Some nights and weekends will be required.

    Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this role, it is frequently required to stand for long periods, walk, and sit at a desk working on a computer. The team member must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to drive and travel.
