We do this through culturally sensitive direct support, education, power building, organizing, and advocacy.About this job Job SummaryThe Program Director oversees all aspects of our four programs : Prison In-reach,Member / Community Care, Policy Advocacy, and Social Enterprise Exploration, guided by ourStrategic Vision.The Program Director works in conjunction with staff, API RISE members, programparticipants, the board of directors, and community members to ensure that programs,services, and advocacy efforts are aligned with our vision, mission, and values. They areresponsible for ensuring all contract deliverables and requirements are met; and co-managebudget development and spending. They participate in strategic organizational development and represent API RISE in funder, community, and policy arenas.The ideal candidate has significant experience and training in program management, contract compliance, budget management, and staff development and support. They have effective communication and time stewardship skills; emotional intelligence; respect and fluency to work with people from an array of backgrounds, and a proven track record of cultivating leadership and growth with staff and communities. This individual has experience and training with culturally sensitive, trauma-informed programming. They are knowledgeable about the juvenile and adult carceral systems in Los Angeles and California. They are able to oversee multiple projects at once with attention to detail and the bigger picture.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProgram Development and Management1. Develops, supports, manages, and evaluates all youth and adult programs, services, and advocacy efforts as guided by the Strategic Vision Framework.2. Integrates new programs with existing programs to maximize impact.3. Ensures contract deliverables are met. Analyzes and formulates recommendations to resolve contract issues to the co-directors in a timely manner.4. Drafts or co-drafts and submits program reports.5. Ensures coordination between prison in-reach and member / community care programs.6. Oversees and supervises Care Support (case management) flow, assignments, progress, charting, data entry, and data analysis.7. Ensures programs reflect representation from a diverse array of communities, including formerly incarcerated, system impacted, LGBTQ, and various ethnic groups.8. Cultivates relationships with juvenile and adult carceral systems.9. Guides and supports staff with systems, community, and institutional relationship navigation.10. Connects direct services to policy advocacy and vice-versa.11. Guides and supports local, state, and federal policy advocacy efforts.12. Guides staff and programs with coalition and solidarity building initiatives.13. Engages API RISE members on a regular basis to ensure programs and services are relevant.14. Oversees subcontract negotiations and provides on-going support with service delivery, invoicing, and all other program related needs.Staff Hiring, Support, Development, and Supervision1. Recruits and oversees the hiring process of staff, consultants, and interns with co-director and / or staff input. Priority consideration is given to formerly incarcerated individuals.2. Supports and supervises staff, consultants, interns, and volunteers to achieve program goals and objectives.3. Works with Human Resources consultant(s) to ensure that HR policies and procedures are in compliance with funder, local, state, and federal requirements.4. Oversees and supports on-going staff development and training.5. Oversees and supports rest and healing policies and procedures for staffBudget and Spending Management1. Develops and manages the fiscal year budget in compliance with funder requirements.2. Oversees budget spending in accordance with contract and program goals and parameters.3. Works with finance consultant(s) to ensure that fiscal operations are accurate, timely, and in compliance with funder, local, state, and federal requirements.4. Oversees organizational equipment and supplies inventory.Strategic Planning and Implementation1. Participants in on-going strategic visioning with board, staff, and the API RISE community.2. Develops and implements program and service work plans that are aligned with the Strategic Vision Framework.3. Executes periodic assessments of mission and vision alignment, and adjusts work plans accordingly.Development, Fundraising, and Capacity Building Support1. Develops or co-develops grant proposals guided by the Strategic Vision framework2. Provides leadership to organizational fundraising efforts.3. Facilitates capacity building including visibility; donor / funder relationships; representation in key spaces; networking and expansion of partners / allies4. Identifies internal operations needs and formulates solutions oriented recommendations.5. Provides leadership to capacity building organizational growth initiatives.Administrative and Communications Management1. Develops, oversees, and revises administrative operations to ensure high quality practices and compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety requirements.2. Manage and support internal and external communications (eg. emails, public facing communications, etc.)3. Direct and support media and social media platforms and operations, according to organizational guidelines.4. Ensure that public relations and communications protect our communities (eg. not disclosing confidential information)Qualifications Minimum Qualifications1. A minimum of four (4) years experience in non-profit program management, including contract and budget compliance, staff support / guidance, and program evaluation.2. Knowledge of word, excel, keynote, powerpoint, google docs.3. Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner verbally and in written form.4. Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships.5. Strong interpersonal, motivational, and de-escalation skills.6. Ability to produce high caliber work in a timely manner.Preferred Qualifications1. Formerly incarcerated (jail, prison, or ICE detention); or a minimum of three years working with formerly incarcerated individuals in a formal setting (reentry program, housing program, etc.)2. Bilingual in an Asian or Pacific Islander language.3. Able to develop and navigate an array of social media platforms.4.
