What are the responsibilities and job description for the Musical Director position at LAAPA Music-Dance-Theater?
The Louisiana Academy of Performing Arts is currently interviewing for the position of "musical director" for our upcoming season of shows on the Northshore.
Our drama and musical theater program continues to grow and we are seeking talented, motivated, and qualified specialists in theater who enjoy working with kids, teens, and adults. LAAPA offers flexible schedules, performance opportunities, and a stimulating work environment.
Rehearsal Class Times:
Saturdays: 4:30-6:30 PM and Fridays: 6:30-7:30 PM
Salary:
Commensurate with certifications and experience
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Arts with concentration in theater, musical theater, film or equivalent certifications or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong vocal skills with a basic piano proficiency.
- Ability to conduct weekly group classes, arrange lesson plans, and prepare students over 12 weeks for a large scale production.
- Ability to communicate weekly updates to parents/students via email
- Outgoing personality
- Ability to make each class fun and enjoyable.
