About Us & the Role: LABBB Collaborative provides educational programming and support services for over 300 special needs students from over 65 districts. LABBB serves students ages 3 to 22 years old with a variety of special needs including students on the autism spectrum, students with multi-handicaps, pervasive development disorders, developmental delays, language deficits and social/emotional challenges. The Literacy Coach/Reading Specialist (FTE .60) works directly under the supervision of the Program Director and acts as a member of a student’s multidisciplinary team in providing academic, behavioral, transition and therapeutic support to students in the area of Reading and Literacy throughout the day; establishing effective reading instruction across the Collaborative. implements direct instruction, actively supervises students, and ensures that the physical and emotional needs of children are being met on a daily basis.
Job Requirements: •Bachelor's Degree from accredited College or University •Must hold a valid DESE Reading Specialist License •Orton -Gillingham certification required. •Experience working with students with moderate and severe disabilities •Preferred: Master's degree in teaching/content area •Prior teaching experience required •Strong content knowledge in literacy •Proficient in the use of technology for teaching, learning, assessment, and data analysis •Skilled in recognizing teachers’ strengths, abilities, and challenges, and able to support effective intervention strategies •Highly developed knowledge of instructional methods, pedagogical best practices, and assessment principles •Effective interpersonal and communication skills •Valid driver’s license and ability to commute between buildings/programs during the day for services, consultations and Team Meetings as needed.
Responsibilities: •Facilitates improvement in instruction and student learning •Collaborates with educators based on observation of instruction, examination of student work, and review of assessment data and helps make connections to research-based effective practices •Consults with staff/teachers on differentiated instruction and assessment strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners •Coaches’ educators to develop new skills and strategies to improve effectiveness and student achievement •Coordinates the development, implementation and on-going assessment and revision of curriculum in consultation with the building and district administrators and LABBB curriculum team •Collaborates with educators in the design, implementation, scoring, and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data to improve educational practice and student learning •Supports educators in instruction and assessment utilizing the MA Frameworks, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) competencies/practices •Evaluates and provides written assessments; implements screenings and diagnostic batteries •Cooperatively assists teachers in the selection of materials to meet individual and classroom needs.
Full time Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7-hour work day (times vary depending on caseload and school location)
Salary Range: $68,298 to $129,901, commensurate with experience and education. *2024-2025 Salary range is for school year and includes compensation for required 4-week summer program.
