Job Description:
The Animal Health Professional will be responsible for providing expert veterinary care for laboratory animals, ensuring their health and welfare meet the highest standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and be able to work effectively within a team environment.
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing medical support to laboratory animals, including examination, treatment, and advice.
- Collaborating with the site lead veterinarian to ensure compliance with animal care and welfare regulations.
- Delivering training sessions on animal health and welfare, as well as common veterinary procedures.
- Contributing to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) or Ethical Review Panel (ERP).
- Conducting physical examinations of laboratory animals as required.
Requirements:
- DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary program.
- At least 3 years of experience in veterinary clinical practice or laboratory animal medicine.
- Ability to obtain a veterinary license in at least one state and USDA accreditation within 6 months.
