Laboratory Health Systems- Sr Director

We are seeking a Sr. Director of Health System Labs will be the operational and strategic leader for the Prisma Health System partnership with Labcorp. Prisma Health is an 18-hospital system in two primary cities of Columbia and Greenville South Carolina. This role will have direct reports including Laboratory Market Sr. Directors and other Laboratory Leaders. Sr. Director of Health System Labs will not only take ownership for laboratory operations at Prisma Health but will serve as liaison between Labcorp and Prisma Health for this strategic partnership. This role will provide strategic vision, oversight, plan, direct, coordinate, manage and promote the operations of the onsite laboratories at Prisma Health. 

Principal Functional Responsibilities:

• Oversee operations across multiple hospitals, spanning various locations and lead diverse teams.
• Plan, organize and oversee laboratory operations while ensuring strict compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• Promote effective intradepartmental relationships.
• Represent Labcorp in a positive and professional manner in all interactions and engagements.
• Ability to attract, recruit, develop and retain high potential talent.
• Ensure high standards of quality control and quality assurance in lab testing procedures.
• Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and implement process improvements.
• Develop and implement disaster response plans to ensure lab continuity.
• Ensure ongoing education and training to staff to keep them updated on best practices and new technologies.
• Responsible for the development and execution of the laboratory structure and organization
• Maintained continuous lab operations with integrity and validity for all laboratory activities.
• Oversee the personnel, service levels, budget, quality measures for the laboratory operation.
• Responsible for the hiring and development of the laboratory leadership team
• Participate in succession planning as well as development and promotion plans.
• Focus on strengthening individuals and their capabilities to build a leadership pipeline.
• Maintain quality accuracy and ensure all quality monitors meet laboratory objectives.
• Ensure that prompt corrective action is taken for all lab audit findings or deficiencies noted.
• Serve as a laboratory departmental liaison during regulatory inspections and/or client audits.
• Consistent communication with Senior Leadership to ensure they are aware of relevant matters.
• Responsible for maintaining suitable staffing levels throughout the lab and satellite locations.
• Ensure that the laboratory passes all audits and maintains appropriate regulatory status.
• Enforce applicable policies and procedures throughout the entire laboratory operation.

• Strong business acumen with ability to understand, analyze and assimilate complex financial information and present to Senior Level Management.

Job Requirements:

• B.S./B.A. Degree (advanced degree preferred).
• 10 years of clinical laboratory experience, with a minimum of 5 years of testing experience.
• Ability to communicate with a heavy customer focus when working with client leadership.
• Project or Program management experience in a large health system environment.
• Proficient in laboratory knowledge and how to effectively manage a clinical laboratory.
• Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication skills: both written and verbal.
• High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Experience with regulatory and accreditation of laboratory operations, preferably CAP.
• Strong demonstrated leadership capabilities including emotional intelligence, excellent listening, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage the performance of others without direct oversight of those individuals.
• Able to balance the needs of the business with the needs of the employees.
