What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gas Designer position at LaBella Associates?
Company personnel responsible for basic drafting. Successful individuals in this position are able to route/design piping layouts/alignments/profiles and create Civil-based utility and piping design drawing packages. This is an exempt, salaried position.
LEADERSHIP ROLE
The Designer reports directly to the Lead Designer while also receiving some project direction from the Project Engineer/Project Manager. Survey Crew Chief, Professional Land Surveyor (when this role is required), Civil Engineer, and/or Director of Operations (Civil/Survey), as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Designer's primary responsibilities include:
- Prepare and edit drawings of piping and site drawings
- Ensure PPS CAD standard compliance
- Edit existing drawings according to markups and specifications
- Translate and convert hand drawing and sketches into CAD drawings
- Document and update all drawings
- Field work conducting 3D scans of existing piping and site conditions
- Processing 3D scans to create point clouds and Scene-2-go batch files
- Use point clouds to recreate existing conditions in AutoCAD
REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of CAD based drafting software, preferably AutoCAD Plant 3D and/or Civil 3D
- Knowledge of Piping and Civil design
- Understand and follow PPS's AutoCAD standards and drawing procedures
- Technically competent with various software programs, such as MS Office Suite
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES
- Ability to communicate with engineers and other designers
- Ability to work effectively and independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to take direction and follow precise procedures closely
- To be self-motivated to take the initiative of learning new products and technologies
- Strong communication and client interface skills
- Problem solving skills, especially when faced with unexpected and stressful situations
- Ability to travel and work extra hours when needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A.S./B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering preferred
- Exceptions made for shown work experience and competency in a field similar to the responsibilities or competencies required for the role of a CAD Technician
Salary Range: $56,160 - $76,960 per year
